Sometimes it just takes an unplanned moment to get something going. Like being fixed on the couch watching Almost Famous and once remembering my fantasy of being a music journalist, too. With this blog journal, I want my thoughts here and the reasons why I like what I like and what I like about them. Pushing that heart-shaped button on a picture only goes so far. Knowing why I like it without comment is only so interesting.
I’m starting to get my mind centered in the morning (a very, very slow process) with a series featured on The Cut shot by portrait photographer Petra Collins. ‘Pretty Hurts’ documents morning routines of a few women in New York. I mention it for the interest of building my own worthy morning routine. I did a test-run (literally— turn back while you still can) a couple months ago: 5 a.m. wakeup time with breakfast and stretches onto an almost four mile run at 6 a.m. The after-effect throughout the day was stunning. Something about the morning flows so quickly. It’s hard to believe you’ve already been awake and accomplished for so long when you look at your clock stating ‘10am’ and still continue to have that energy at 3 p.m. and beyond. There are so many details to be aware of and complete to have a day successfully progress. I like having perspective into how others bring in a new day and how productive one can be when following a routine. Routine may seem like a loss of freedom, but it is actually blueprint to do as you need with ease. I never find a problem with letting go in some aspects to help me grow in others. Just something to keep in mind. We don’t need to be pressuring ourselves so often to think we are being successful.
Be neat, get organized, get things done early and let your mind think and produce in a healthy manner. x
